1. State of depression

   I am entering week four of my layoff from my job of 25 years. I am told that there is a rumor they are going to post my old job, but with a twist in the job description so they don't have to recall me. Of course, it would be for a $20K paycut as well. I have decided that devious practices like that require that I turn my back on that place forever. I'd rather bag groceries - and just may have to. Sigh. Life will never be the same.

   Valentine's Day found Donna and I dropping the kids off at the mall, then getting some lunch steaks at Longhorn's. Currently, I am enjoying a short glass of Woodford Reserve on the rocks. Ahh.
   I am grateful to still have a job, but will not feel good about things until sometime this summer. All I need to do is get the next 5 years in. I can retire in 3, but not for the same pension amount. I am grateful that I have the pension secure in three more years, so if I am cut loose, I just...

   Last night, Late Arrivals played at the Dilly Deli in Mariemont, Ohio, which is a suburb of Cincinnati. We had a great crowd and had a good time playing there. They have really good food and the best selection of beer and wine you could possibly ask for. I am a beer freak (some say snob) and they have loads of good stuff on tap and by the bottle. I also love the hours - 7-10 in the winter, 7:30 - 1030 in the warm season. Very easy on me. I think we played pretty well, except for me forgetting...
